The Cathedral's "Michelangelo" Art Lecture
Details
Following some recent discoveries in the Cathedral Archives. Authentic, hand drawn sketches have been identified as those created by Joseph A. Capecchi, an Italian sculptor and immigrant to Saint Paul. Capecchi and his team painted the brilliant, awe-inspiring interior dome of the Cathedral, and served as the liaison to the Vatican Studios, producing other important art work for our Cathedral.
Here all about it from Capecchi’s grandsons along with never-before-seen film, photos and sketches from both the Cathedral Archives and Capecchi family archives. Proceeds from ticket sales support the on-going restoration of the Cathedral, widely considered one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the U.S. and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
