The Club's Program Director is always planning events above
and beyond the traditional Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Thanksgiving
and Easter. Join in the fun of a Beaujolais Nouveau, Ice Martini
Bar, Valentine's Day, Santa Brunch, our annual Single malt Scotch
Tasting, or our annual black tie Dickens London Christmas. Details

JANUARY
A Civilized New Year's Eve - Entertainment by a pianist/
vocalist duo as you dine on our Chef's special menu selections.
Varsity Croquet Awards Banquet - Attended by
club members and guests. Black tie of course.
FEBRUARY
Valentines Day - Enjoy special dinners-for-two prepared
by our Chef.
Single Malt Scotch Tasting - Our most popular
beverage tasting! Noted experts in the field explain the various
regions (Highland, Lowland, Islay Malt, etc). Sample a variety
and taste the difference!
MARCH
Easter Brunch - Features a fabulous buffet of traditional
springtime favorites and classic ambience. For the children,
the club hosts an egg hunt in the park.

APRIL
Swim Team Breakfast - The Club serves Continental
Breakfast and members will have the opportunity to meet with
the Swim Team Coach.
MAY
Mother's Day Brunch - A spectacular feast with live
music in a lovely setting. Babysitting provided.
Memorial Day Pig Roast and Pool Opener - Members
are treated to a fabulous Rite of Spring.
Varsity Croquet Opener Brunch - Traditional
Croquet Opening Match. All members and guests are welcome to
play the game-right along side the Club's own Varsity members.
JUNE
Swim Team Kickoff Banquet - Burgers and hot dogs grilled
pool side. It's all you can eat at this family affair.
JULY
Fourth of July by the Pool - Pool side buffet, then
on to the roof outside the Library to watch the fireworks downtown.

AUGUST
Swim Team Awards Banquet - Honoring our Swim Team.
Awards for both individual merit and team effort.
SEPTEMBER
Labor Day Corn Roast - Poolside
Celebrating the end of summer and the beginning of Fall activities
OCTOBER
Oktoberfest - Welcome our member "travelers"
to Oktoberfest. You'll find yourself surrounded by sumptuous
German cooking. Oompah bands will march among the tables playing
German tunes. Sample a variety of German beers and wines brought
in expressly for this occasion.
Halloween Haunted House
Each year club members get together to create the ultimate haunted
house at the Griggs house next door. Come, help decorate or stay
all night and "work the party"
NOVEMBER
Beaujolais Nouveau - A French tradition. Sample France's
first wine offerings of the year to the strains of the club chanteuse.
Thanksgiving Dinner - Traditional turkey dinner
with live music that compliments the festivities. Order your
dinner here or "to go."
DECEMBER
Brunch with Santa - This one's for the kids! During
the course of the brunch, each child is photographed on Santa's
lap, makes ornaments and partakes in other Christmas activities.

Dickens London Christmas - Step back to the
charm of Victorian England. Enjoy champagne and hors d'oeuvres
at the Griggs House, hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Fezziwig in period
costumes, followed by the Christmas Feast at the University Club,
danacing to a string orchestra 'til the clock strikes twelve.

Monthly Member Activities
All activities are held at the Summit Avenue Clubhouse unless
otherwise indicated. Reservations are appreciated for all member
functions. Cancellations may be phoned in up to 24 hours in advance
of the event.
Club Night - Every Friday night, the club treats
its members to complimentary hors d'oeuvres in the Fireside Room.
Feel free to bring a guest! No guest fee is imposed for dining/social
events. Don't forget every "First Friday" is Martini
Night with live music!
Happy Hour - every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
and Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. Featuring Half priced drinks (house
wines and beer selected by the UClub). Also featuring Chef Mike's
delicious Margherita Pizza.
Afternoon Tea - Tea is served in the
Fireside Room throughout the year, Tuesday through Saturday from
3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Reservations are necessary.
Camp UClub - A variety of activities are scheduled
in addition to our regular swimming and tennis programs. Some
involve field trips, others take place at the Club. A three month
Calendar of Activities is published in June. Register with the
Pool Shack.
Croquet Team - Plays most Summer Sundays in
Overlook Park across the street from the Summit Avenue Clubhouse.
The team motto is "it's not how you play, but how you look"
Croquet whites (replaced by tweeds in the fall) and appropriate
headgear. No reservations required. New participants and guests
are encouraged. Matches are played on our home greensward, as
well as other locations with competitive clubs.
Swim Team - Open to children ages 5 to 15. The
season runs from mid-June until August with weekly meets and
daily practices. Meets are scheduled with other private clubs
in the St. Paul area.
Investment Club - N.A.I.C. certified in conjunction
with Dain Bosworth; meets from 5:30 to 7 p.m. over cocktails
on the second Wednesday of every month. Non-threatening educational
sessions followed by "pitches" from Club members. Club
members vote their investment choices. $150 initial investment,
then $25 a month.
Great Books Reading and Discussion Club - Monthly
readings selected by the group. Authors range from Plato and
Socrates to William Faulkner and Virginia Woolf. Meets the third
Wednesday of every month at 7:30 p.m., followed by social time
in the bar. Copies of the month's reading are available at the
front desk.
G. K. Chesterton Society - The Twin Cities Chesteron
Society is a lively and welcome bunch who live up to Chesterton's
paradox that "if a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing
badly." Pack up your favorite "Father Brown" story
and join us in the Library on the last Tuesday of every month.
Mother-Daughter Book Club - Currently geared
toward girls in the 7-10 age range, our selections are made by
the girls themselves, (with able assistance from The Red Balloon
Bookshop). We meet monthly: summers by the pool, winters in the
Fireside Room over tea. A lovely tradition for mothers and daughters
alike!
Father-Son Book Club- for boys 8 to 12 and their
father. Assisted by the Red Balloon Bookshop, the club meets
the last Sunday of each month from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
A la Carte Soloists - Members of the Minnesota
Orchestra and their friends (usually a quartet or quintet) charm
the audience with beautiful chamber music in the midst of the
works of artists displayed around the room. The events are scheduled
twice a year - Spring and Fall - and are free to UClub members
and guests. The concert is followed by refreshments on the Terrace.
Beverage Tastings - Each month during
the Fall and Winter Season, members gather to sample. It could
be single malt scotches, beers and ales, or wines from a specific
region ñ we'll try anything!
